HISTORY

Chowgule Shishu Vihar Vidyalaya started as a small Nursery School as shishu vihar in 1956.  The Parent body of this is Maratha Mitra Mandal established in 1946.  Since 1956 school is showly growing and then named as Chowgule Shishu Vihar Vidyalaya when Shri. Vishrasrao Chowgule donated Rs.50,000/-. A turning point in the progress of shishu vihar came with the acquisition of Land on Faiz Road Area earmarked for schools.

After shifting of school to its new premises in 1974, the Maratha Mitra Mandal opened its doors to all children of all language group in Delhi, with English as the medium of instruction.  It is a matter of pride that the Marathi language is taught to all children up to Std. VIII.

The Primary dept. of the school was recognized in1976 by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.  The middle school got recognition in 1981 by Delhi Administration.

The school progressed a step ahead when it was upgraded up to class X in 1986 affiliated to C.B.S.E.

From Meager number of 18 students in the beginning now we have about 890 students on roll.

The first batch of class X appeared for the Board Exam. in 1987 and result of which was Cent Percent.  We have got Cent Percent result in our 2nd and 3rd batched also. ( i.e. 1988 and 1989 ).  The school is recognized by Delhi Administration and C.B.S.E. up to Std. XII and in 1990 the first batch of school children will appear for Senior Secondary Exam.

We are keen in the overall development of our students. We are proud to mention that our students displayed LEZIUM in the Republic Day Parade 1989.  We had the opportunity to take part in the tableau as a part of Atomic Energy Float.

As you know 1989 is being celebrated as Nehru Centenary year and on 14th November a cultural program ‘Bharatiam’ is being held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and our school is putting up a drill depicting Industrialization.

Our students had taken part in various local level sports and cultural competitions conducted by the Delhi Administration, Vivekanand Kendra and Ramkrishna Mission and had secured high positions.

The school has nearly forty five well qualified devoted Teachers.

Our school is probably the only one outside ‘MAHARASHTRA’ which prepares students to take up Marathi as a subject to Secondary School level.  It has well equipped Science Laboratories and up to date Computer training facilities.
